Projected 1st Grade Curriculum

Why Homeschool?

REASONS I HOMESCHOOL:

1. Academic
A. Cater to their interests
B. Study topics more in-depth
C. Won't be taught just for testing, so they'll retain information longer
D. Teach at their level, rather than the median level of 28 other students
E. Make it more fun and meaningful
F. Learn more in less time, putting them ahead of peers

2. Social
A. Learn the family's ways, not worldly ways
B. Not as much influence of peers (cattiness, sassing, talking back)
C. Keep pop-culture out to some extent, it won't be so important since they won't be at school to compare or start asking for what their friends have

3.Spiritual
A. Scripture study is planned into the school day
B. We will rely on inspiration to show us what to teach them

4.Flexibility
A. Plan around our family rather than school holidays
B. If we want to visit Utah or go on an educational field trip we can
C. More field trips!!!
D. We decide what and how to teach, not the schools

5.Character Development
A. They are taught self-discipline as they learn to do school work on their own
B. Learn responsibility for their work

6.Control what they learn
A. I want them to learn more than public schools can teach
B. Select curriculum to compliment their learning styles
C. Choose topics of study that they are interested in
